I was asked if I could cover Oregon State’s annual recruiting dinner. Of course, I like photographing new things. The dinner was last night at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. The lighting for the event was very dark but there were some cool projections on the walls that were good for photos. Here are a few from last night…
The Weekend at OSU
Posted in Basketball, Sports, Wrestling on January 18, 2010 by Ethan EricksonThis weekend OSU hosted 2 men’s basketball games and a wrestling meet. Sounds like just another day at the office to me.

The weekend started off great with a win over the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday.

Then wrestling on Friday.

And Saturday ended with a loss to Arizona State.

Civil War Basketball
Posted in Basketball, Sports on January 12, 2010 by Ethan EricksonLast night I shot the final Civil War to be held in McArther Court. The game stayed close to the end with the Beavers winning for the first time at Oregon since 1993.

Everything was laid out perfectly for the Oregon fans.

I’m Living My Dream
Posted in Baseball, Basketball, Cycling, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Personal, Sports, Track/Cross Country, Volleyball on January 2, 2010 by Ethan EricksonNever in a million years did I think that I would get to take photos of sports like I have in the last 12 months. I photographed events before 2009 but not like I have since I started working with the OSU athletic department. I went from a high school yearbook and a small local paper in 2008 to being published in newspapers I have never heard of more websites than I can count and even a cover of a magazine. 2009 was great for my photography, now I can’t wait to see what will happen in 2010.
Here are some of my favorite photos that I have taken from the past year.

Las Vegas Bowl
Posted in Football, Sports on December 24, 2009 by Ethan EricksonI traveled with OSU to the MAACO Las Vegas bowl this past week. I have never traveled with the team before, never been to Vegas before and the constant changes in lighting and environment made for a very draining, exciting, challenging and fun experience. These are just a few of my favorites.

Another Series of Photos on Slipstream Sports
Posted in Cycling, Editorial, Personal, Sports on December 17, 2009 by Ethan EricksonLast weekend I took photos of the National Cyclo-Cross Championships in Bend, Oregon. During the summer I gave my photos to the Garmin Cycling U23 Team while they raced in Central Oregon. Danny Summerhill of the Garmin team won the U23 title on Saturday so I dug up the Email I had from the summer and sent my pics to the team that I took this weekend. They used them!
War For the Roses
Posted in Editorial, Football, Sports with tags civil war, Football on December 8, 2009 by Ethan EricksonI got to shoot my first Civil War and it couldn’t have been better! Obviously I was there for Oregon State so the outcome could have been better but the game was still fun to watch and photograph.

My First DSLR
Posted in Personal on November 12, 2009 by Ethan EricksonA few years back I bought my very first digital SLR camera, it was a Canon Rebel xti. What a camera… but now I am moving on and have decided that its time to retire it.
It has been through just about everything, rain storms at high school football games, snow and freezing temperatures at skiing races, thunderstorms (thought I fried it in one) its been dropped and run into countless times and so on… I thought I would give it one last moment to shine before I retire it. So, here are a few pictures that it has taken in the last year.
The 7D replacing it has some big shoes to fill.
Beaver Classic
Posted in Sports, Track/Cross Country on October 26, 2009 by Ethan EricksonI only take cross country photos once or twice a year but when the photos look like this I wish I did a little more often.
